Video Transcript Follows:

So I’m really pumped to have you guys here Day #1 of our Mindset Booster Group! I am just pumped up to be able to help you guys improve the way that you think, the way that you view the world, the things that you tell yourself, and to really just change your life for the better and to change your thinking!

I read a really great book before and it’s called Mindset by Carol Dweck. If you want to get more in-depth with anything that I’m going over, I will be sharing with you different books and different videos that I’ve watched along the way that have really helped me get to the place where I’m at right now in terms of my mindset! But Carol’s book is a great one to start with.

It really is true, the mindset that you choose truly does shape your future. I’m going to ask you to get vulnerable, to get a little bit uncomfortable with yourselves and confront some things that you have going on. Get down and get messy with it because change can be tough but change is everything!.

Fixed vs Growth Mindset

Fixed vs Growth Mindset Kathi ReuterThere are two main mindsets – a fixed mindset and a growth mindset.

A fixed mindset means that you believe that things are just the way that they are. You believe that in order to have talent and to be great at things, you are born with it – it’s a natural thing. You can’t really learn new things. You can’t get really get better at new things. You either have it or you don’t. You don’t really like to try new things – you might avoid them because they scare you, and you might believe that your skills and the things that can bring you to the next level in your life are already set and predetermined.

Having a fixed mindset is actually is very limiting.

Contrasting with the growth mindset, where you believe that your skills are things that can be developed and can be learned, that you can change, that things can get better. You aren’t stuck as the person you were born.

Whereas the fixed mindset, you think, “She’s just lucky she was born that way. She got this talent. I could never do that.”

The growth mindset believes that no matter what is thrown my way in life, even if it’s hard, I can navigate my way through it. I can find my way through it. If I’m going to try something new, I can learn it. I can be great at that too.

When you start believing you can change, learn, and grow; then it begins to trickle down into all areas of your life. This is the kind of mindset that’s going to lead to and that’s going to foster grit, determination, really good work ethic, all of those things.

Also, what you focus on expands. The way that you think becomes your reality in your every single day life.

So, how do you get into the growth mindset? Again, I was not the growth mindset before. And it wasn’t until I became a business owner and I started doing a lot of personal self-growth where I realized that I can learn new things. I can do hard things. I am good enough. I am smart enough. Whatever is thrown my way, no matter what it is, it’s going to pass. I’m going to get through it.

The growth mindset also helps you get through the difficult times in your life and face the things that are thrown at you.

Instead of a fixed mindset of “Oh my gosh! How am I going to get through this?”, the growth mindset says – “All right. This is the challenge that life is throwing me at me right now and I’m going to get through it.”

And you’re way more likely to just get through it and not fight it versus the person who has that fixed mindset who is just trying to avoid it and push away.

If you have that growth mindset, you’re more likely to look at these challenges not as failures but as learning moments for you that can help you become a better person, that can help you now go on to teach other people in the world.

So, if you want to create change in the world, the mindset that you have matters.

What goes through your head when you wake up in the morning?

Think about when you wake up in the morning, the first thought that comes to your mind, you want to be thinking positive things because if you start up thinking more negative, (and this has happened to me before), you’ll have like this downward spiral where like everything seems to be going wrong.

Now, think honestly and fill out the below mindset check up. Comment below with your score!

Remember, there’s no right or wrong answers. This isn’t about judging – it’s about improving through self awareness and to get better so that we can see more positive changes in our lives!
